As a member of the Education Team, this position provides support to education staff in order to establish and maintain the high quality early educational and care services in our Head Start, Early Head Start, and Foundations for Learning classrooms. The Education Coach will work with the Director of Professional Development and Coaching, and the Education Managers to ensure that education staff are supported to increase their knowledge, skills, and practices of social and emotional development, assessment, curriculum planning and individualizing plans, including how to use data to inform practice, and family engagement. The position supports the Education Leadership Team in identifying and coordinating trainings that meet the program and individual training needs of education staff.

Requirements:

Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required. Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.

Preferred:

  • Practice-Based Coaching (PBC) trained
  • Pyramid Model trained
  • Experience with Creative Curriculum
  • Experience with ERS
  • Pre-school CLASS observer certification
  • TPITOS and TPOT certification
  • QCIT certification
  • Bi- or multi-lingual (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole)
  • Experience working in diverse communities.

Essential Functions

  1. Provide intensive individual and group Practice Based Coaching to staff including shared goals/action planning, focused observation, and reflection and feedback related to effective teaching practices and other program performance goals.
  2. Work collaboratively with the Education Leadership Team and Content Area Supervisors to plan, implement, and evaluate yearly program-level professional development plans for staff.
  3. Participate in the assessment of classroom environments and education staff using the ERS, CLASS, TPOT, TPITOS, QCIT, and/or any other tools as required by the program.
  4. Develop and implement small and large group trainings directly or indirectly, based on identified professional development needs and aligned with program goals.
  5. Support educators to increase skills and practice of assessment, curriculum planning and individualizing plans, including how to use data to inform practice, to meet each child's needs.
  6. Support educators to implement strategies to successfully engage all learners, including those with diverse learning needs and those for whom English is a second language, through targeted professional development efforts and in-classroom coaching.
  7. Support the Education Leadership Team in the design and implementation of a plan for training and supporting staff in the on-going implementation of Pyramid Model, Head Start Early Learning Outcome Frameworks (ELOF), as well as EEC and NAEYC standards.
  8. Support teachers to incorporate family engagement into daily practices.
  9. Maintain appropriate documentation as required for data collection and reporting.
  10. Participate in team meetings, training, and other educational activities to promote team building and professional development.
  11. Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and stay current in the field of Early Childhood Education.
  12. Recognize and report suspected physical, emotional, and sexual abuse to the appropriate authorities as required by law.
  13. Maintain confidentiality at all times and communicate to others the importance of confidentiality.
  14. Work collaboratively with supervisor to develop an Individualized Professional Development Plan (IPDP) to guide training, educational, and coaching activities connected to individual and program goals.

Compensation: $27 - $38 per hour.
