Residential Support Staff (Full Time)
Job Summary: To work as a part of a multi-discipline to support all families to achieve their goal of permanent housing. Provide on-site coverage to ensure smooth shelter operations and security of program participants, staff and facilities.
We have several shifts available at the following schedules:
Sunday to Thursday 11pm to 7am
Monday to Friday 3pm to 11pm
Job Responsibilities/Performance Expectations:
- To perform duties that ensure the health, safety, and well-being of residents such as light housekeeping including but not limited to sweeping, dusting, replenishing of supplies, cleaning of bathrooms, kitchen and common living areas.
- To develop and maintain a warm, friendly, cooperative atmosphere in the residence.
- To safeguard the privacy and confidentiality of residents and staff and to treat individuals with dignity and respect at all times.
- To maintain appropriate records and files as directed by the Program Coordinator.
- Coordinate and follow up on guest facility chores and schedules.
- Conduct daily room inspections.
- Ensure safety procedures are followed.
- Communicate and work well with other staff and resident.
- Assist residents in negotiating common space.
- Ensure compliance with all shelter rules.
- To provide emergency coverage when necessary.
- To attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- To perform other related tasks as assigned by the Program Director.
Required Qualifications and Skills (include all technical requirements as well as required experience, training, age and/or population specific competencies):
- Ability to work effectively and professionally with low-income families.
- Read, write and speak English, bi-cultural/bi-lingual a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and act appropriately in emergency situations.
- Ability to encourage conflict resolution through mediation and negotiation.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
- Demonstrates a customer focus.
- Demonstrates team spirit in carrying out responsibilities.
- Demonstrates a work ethic that supports agency policies, procedures and goals.
Required Certification (include all required licensure, accreditation, board certification, and credentialing)
Must obtain First Aid/CPR within first three months of employment. Must successfully pass a CORI check.
Minimum Educational Requirements (indicate specific area of study where necessary):
- High School Diploma or Equivalency and one year experience working with families in a residential environment; or BA/BS in human service related field.
- Physical Requirements (include physical requirements necessary to successfully perform the responsibilities of the position such as ability to stand, bend, lift, eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity and sensory perceptions):
- Must be able to perform above duties that may require bending, lifting, sweeping, and stretching.
Shelter space meets ADA requirements. Must maintain professional attire at all times.
Salary Range: $17.91 to $19.36 per hour
