The Opportunity

The Program Manager, CSS is a hands-on operational and people leader responsible for the daily oversight of a residential addiction treatment and community support program. Reporting directly to the COO and working closely with senior leadership, this role plays a critical part in ensuring safe operations, strong staff performance, and a recovery-centered program culture.

This position is best suited for a leader who is comfortable being present in the program, navigating complexity, and making sound decisions in high-acuity environments — while also finding meaning in direct service and team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Operations & Safety
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and support of all residents
  • Maintain a physically, emotionally, and spiritually safe residential environment
  • Oversee daily operations including facilities, food and supply inventory, and basic technology needs
  • Ensure program expectations, policies, and standards are consistently upheld
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe living environment

Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise, coach, and support Unit Coordinators and Behavioral Health staff
  • Hold staff accountable to program structure, ethical standards, and assigned responsibilities
  • Model professionalism, ethical boundaries, and recovery-oriented leadership
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule supporting addiction services programs

Resident Engagement & Program Culture

  • Facilitate weekly community meetings with residents to reinforce expectations and gather feedback
  • Recognize and respond to individual, cultural, and contextual differences that influence behavior and recovery
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, especially in high-stress situations
  • Collaboration & Program Development
  • Collaborate closely with nursing, case management, providers, and clinicians
  • Partner with leadership to strengthen programming and operational processes
  • Apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills with safety and recovery at the forefront

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Experience in inpatient or residential health services administration
  • Minimum of one year working with vulnerable populations
  • At least one year of supervisory or administrative experience in a fast-paced, clinically complex setting
  • Experience with addiction treatment and trauma-informed care strongly preferred
  • Ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who enjoys developing teams and strengthening systems

Location: Roxbury, MA

Salary Range: $59,000 – $79,900
